Short Bio
Dr. Nicola Schiel is a full professor at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (Brazil) and has devoted more than 25 years of her scientific career to understanding the behavior, ecology and cognition of wild common marmosets.Research on free-living common marmoset has provided a powerful window into the dynamic interplay between behavior, ecological pressures, and cognition. While motor development is related to group composition, foraging strategies are learned. Constant environmental variability shape real-time decision-making, spatial abilities, and correlate with cortisol levels.
